Guest speakers from Freshology Marketing gave an entertaining and interesting talk on marketing. Aspects of gaining new customers, helping to assist in keeping them satisfied and most importantly how to maximise the potential for repeat business – Something very close to all of our hearts in these difficult times!!

Their presentation was certaining ‘fresh’ and feedback from attendees would suggest they were all going away with ideas to try out.

Ryedale Business Network’s latest event had the recession-busting theme of ‘Owt for Nowt’. The event took place at the Ryedale Bowling Club in Norton on Tuesday evening 18th August .

Three specialists in their fields gave presentations on how local entrepreneurs can take advantage of free resources at a time when finances are tight for many companies.

Nick Teasdale from tKnowIT talked about free business software; Kevin Chilton of Chilton Safety Solutions identified free sources of health and safety information; and Darrell Hooper informed guests about the free advice and training events on offer from Business Link. 
Attendees had the chance to tell everyone about their business in a 30 seconds, round-the-room, speech followed by refreshments and tasty ‘bacon-butties’ whilst networking with everyone at the event. to network informally and make new business contacts.

Jo Purdy gave a presentation explaining how she recently started and built up a successful retail venture from scratch. The meeting was held at the Downe Arms at Wykeham on Wednesday 8th April 2009.

Jo Purdy is the owner of Hearts and Flowers, a floral design service based at Wykeham near Scarborough, and spoke about how she overcame many challenges in order to establish her business.
Local Business Link representative Darrell Hooper provided an update on some business grants available through Business Link Yorkshire and Ryedale Council.

Business owners in the Ryedale area attended a seminar entitled Recession-Busting Ideas For Your Business, which was held at the Worsley Arms Hotel in Hovingham.

Three Network members who are specialists in their fields gave presentations full of information to help small businesses through difficult financial times. Nick Teasdale from tKnowIT gave advice on reducing costs and improving productivity through better use of technology; Kevin Chilton of Chilton Safety Solutions helped people to identify their training and development needs; and Darrell Hooper from Business Link informed members about the many training and workshop events Business Link will be offering during 2009.
